Weightlifting Champion Jeremy Lalrinnunga Excluded from National Camp for Skipping USA Trip for Injury Treatment
Weightlifting champion Jeremy Lalrinnunga, who achieved success at the Commonwealth Games, has been excluded from the national camp due to his refusal to travel to the United States for rehabilitation of his back injury. Lalrinnunga also missed the trials for the Asian Games and World Championships, further contributing to his removal from the camp.
According to Lalrinnunga's coach, the athlete was advised to go to St. Louis for treatment and efforts were made to coordinate this with the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS). However, Lalrinnunga declined the opportunity.
The decision to exclude Lalrinnunga from the camp was made due to his failure to participate in trials for major international competitions and his need to demonstrate improved performance to regain his place. Additionally, there were some minor disciplinary issues associated with Lalrinnunga's behavior.
Sanket Sargar, a silver medalist at the Commonwealth Games, has also been removed from the national camp in Patiala due to an injury and a decline in performance. Junior players surpassed him in recent trials.
These actions highlight the importance of commitment, participation, and maintaining performance standards in order to be part of the national camp and compete in prestigious international events.
